We have now added an option to enable three columns layout in all of our themes in the 1.8 branch of Elgg. Under theme settings, you can choose between two columns or three columns, giving you an extra sidebar where you can add content such as Google AdSense.
To make it easier for you to benefit from the three column layout we’ve even added a boot file whose content is passed to the new secondary sidebar.
Moreover, we have added walled garden support for all themes except Bright and Silverblue, which are designed to be public. Walled garden is the option in Elgg settings, which allows you to run your site as a private network.
